State-funded kindergarten readiness program for eligible families
NC Pre-K is North Carolina's state-funded prekindergarten program designed to provide high-quality educational experiences for eligible four-year-olds. Our program prepares children for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Using a research-based curriculum aligned with NC Foundations for Early Learning, we focus on developing the academic, social, and emotional skills children need to thrive in school.
As an NC Pre-K site, we meet the highest standards for teacher qualifications, classroom environment, and educational programming.
Letter recognition, phonics, vocabulary building, and early reading skills through engaging activities and quality literature.
Number sense, counting, patterns, shapes, measurement, and early problem-solving through hands-on manipulation.
Exploration of the natural world, community helpers, cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills.
Name writing, letter formation, journaling, and creative expression through drawing and emergent writing.
Cooperation, conflict resolution, self-regulation, and building positive relationships with peers and adults.
Art, music, dramatic play, and movement activities that foster creativity and self-expression.
Child must be 4 years old on or before August 31st of the program year
Family must reside in North Carolina
Income at or below 75% of the State Median Income (other factors may also qualify)
Limited English proficiency, developmental needs, or other educational factors may qualify
Full-day program following NC Pre-K guidelines
